After speaking with law enforcement Monday afternoon, Rochelle ISD will need to immediately reverse the flow of traffic in the afternoon (only in the afternoon) each day in order to ensure that we maintain a safe and orderly pick-up process for our students that are picked up at school.
As can be seen from the maps, parents/guardians will drive to campus from Highway 190 using 6th street and will form a line at the side walk leading from the elementary building – this is the same spot where we currently form the pick-up line but in a reversed direction. From here, parents/guardians will pick up their students and then will proceed back towards Highway 190 using 5th Street.
We do ask that drivers be mindful of the flow of traffic from 5th Street as they enter it from 6th Street (by Coach Maciel's house). Also, please do not park in a parking spot or get out of your vehicle as this slows down the flow of traffic and can create a possible hazard. Bus drivers will pick up students at the front of the school at the main entrance starting today to make space for vehicles coming to pick up students. School employees will be outside to help with the flow of traffic as will the McCulloch County Sherriff's office. We will begin this today, Tuesday, August 15th. We appreciate the support of our entire community as we reverse the flow of traffic each afternoon in order to keep everyone safe.
